In een straal van 100 meter heeft kebabtent nummer vier sinds kort zijn deuren geopend. Welke kebabetaria moet je in hemelsnaam kiezen als je een bodempje wil leggen voordat je gaat winkelen in de altijd gezellige Cronjéstraat?
Gelukkig zijn wij er voor je om deze keuze wat vergemakkelijken. De eerste tent vanaf het station is Tuana, vervolgens loop je langs Flamingo snacks en nu zit er sinds kort Döner City. Daarna heb je nog Helal die er al sinds jaar en dag zit maar zij zijn alleen ’s avonds en ’s nachts open dus dat scheelt weer één keuze. En de andere zaakjes sluiten al heel vroeg dus later op de dag hoef je in ieder geval niet te kiezen.
Döner City dus. Tent ziet er goed uit en ze hadden een mooie aanbieding, €3,50 voor een broodje en een blikje fris. Deze aanbieding bleek echter van korte duur en inmiddels betaal je maar liefst vier euro voor een broodje. Kunnen ze het ooit goed maken met zo’n prijs vroeg ik mij af.
De vleesrol hing er wat treurig bij en het leek erop dat de kebabkachel al enige tijd kapot was. Als dat zielige donkerbruine hompje vlees mijn hopeloos brakke maandag moest gaan redden dan had ik weinig hoop.
Bij een parkje aangekomen bleek bij de eerste inspectie dat het broodje van een behoorlijk formaat was, goed gevuld ook. Maar als je een minuutje later zit te eten met je klauwen vol saus omdat de saus en sla slechts aan één kant zit waardoor je met je vieze werkhanden zelf voor een goede verdeling moet zorgen, is het moeilijk om positief te blijven.
Erg zonde want de bediening was goed. Vriendelijk. Een tent waar je je welkom voelt. Maar als je vervolgens voor vier euro een broodje serveert met naast een dramatische verdeling ook nog eens koud vlees ertussen, houdt het snel op voor mij. Het vlees was gemiddeld, standaard, middelmatig, niet boeiend, gewoon. Maar vooral koud. Had net zo goed een warm broodje met koude grilworst kunnen zijn. Met verse salade en een goede knoflooksaus, dat dan weer wel.
Jammer van de prijs, de verdeling en het koude vlees. Maar om toch positief af te sluiten: het is wat mij betreft wel een tent met potentie. Wat kleine verbeteringen kunnen een hoop goed maken.

Bij een kebaboorlog horen natuurlijk lagere prijzen :) . Hoop nog wel een keer in Groningen te belanden voor een broodje, maar zoals wel vaker vermeld hier : het staat je vrij zelf een leuk stuk te schrijven en het naar ons toe te sturen. We kunnen helaas niet overal zijn en we komen ook niet dagelijks in het hele land. Maar een kebaboorlog kan goede broodjes opleveren!
