Dus… Ik had hier kunnen eten. Omdat ik me daar bevond en honger had. Goedkoop en zeer goed. Maar nee, omdat Hilversum nog niet echt vaak op deze site staat besloot ik mijn honger nog een half uurtje te laten voor wat het was. Tja.
Een half uur later bevond ik me in Hilversum, waar ik al vrij snel een kebabtoko spotte. Met een mooi groot parkeerterrein vlak om de hoek. Bij het uitstappen liep ik tegen een tweede toko aan. Omdat ik over het algemeen liever lui dan moe ben wijzigde ik vrij snel mijn plan en liep hier naar binnen. Hoewel de zaak “Döner king” heet leek het me een vrij standaard snackbar, met twee Aziatisch uitziende mensen achter de balie. Wel hebben ze een aparte kebab hoek met een Turks uitziende man. Helaas bleek het al snel een slechte keus, ik mocht vijf euro afrekenen voor een broodje kalfs kebab (kip is 50 cent goedkoper). Ik blijf het te veel geld vinden voor een broodje. Schrale Hollander dat ik ben.
Bij de menu beschrijvingen die de balie sieren zag ik al vrij snel dat er weinig ruimte was voor extra’s, Sla, tomaat en komkommer. Meer niet. Het broodje was een klein beetje groter dan een standaard broodje, maar de vijf euro niet waard. Het vlees was wel erg goed, de verdeling niet super, en omdat ik het mee nam kreeg ik de saus in bakjes. Pittige sambal, normale knoflook. Sommige zullen het luxe vinden dat je bakjes krijgt, ik vind het maar gehannes. Vooral omdat ik wegens mijn werk de broodjes meestal in de auto nuttig. Het enige voordeel is dat je zo nu en dan wat extra saus op je broodje kunt gooien. Al is voorzichtig schenken meer aan te raden.
