Omdat het niet alleeeeen maar lol is op vakantie; besloot ik ook nog wat te hobbyen.
Aangezien dat gewoon te doen is in de buurt van Athinas en niet helemaal in een of andere buitenwijk, was ik in de buurt van de lokale, welbekende versmarkt en meerdere eettenten.
Pas op dat je niet uitglijdt over de lukraak rondgesmeten ingewanden!
Tegenover deze fris riekende markt, zitten geloof ik drie gyrostenten naast elkaar, alsof ze het erom doen.
Een van de drie was steeds dicht of ik was zo lame hem steeds te missen, dus testte ik er twee.
Nummer een is Bouloukos, die claimt de beste kebab in town te verkopen.
Mooie tent met een gigantische bbq binnen waar stokjes souvlaki en kebab liggen te knisperen van genot.
Ik kan daar zo van genieten hè! Lekker bruin bakkend vlees in grote hoeveelheden, houtskool, vuur, druipend vet…yamyam!
Echt, ik kan me wel bedenken waarom mensen veganisten worden. Maar ik kan Dutroux of Khaddafi ook wel begrijpen…zolang je maar gelooft in jezelf.
Er zijn veel popliedjes die als thema hebben; sterk in je schoenen staan/tegenslagen overwinnen/jezelf zijn want dat is vet….en daar word ik vaak een beetje anti van.
Wat nou als die gast van dat pedoclubje Martijn de hele dag Gaga draait?? Dan voelt hij zich toch EMPOWERED?
Als je de hele dag hoort dat je nooit moet opgeven? Dat je, ondanks tegenslagen, in jezelf moet geloven? Of geldt dat alleen voor lelijke meisjes van 14?
Lady Gaga als spreekbuis voor pedo’s en moordenaars? Beyoncé als soundtrack voor gruweldaden? Ik zie dat wel, maar ik ben dan ook een debiel.
Omdat ik soort van haast had, vrat ik lopend een broodje gyros, wat me beviel.
Een dag later kwam ik terug met mn vrouw en nam plaats om eens echt te testen.
Ze rocken hier servetten met hun naam erop en een leuk potje paprikapoeder op tafel, wat een fijn professioneel sfeertje neerzet.
Al snel kreeg ik mn pita gyros aangereikt terwijl ik koude slokken bier dronk en gedachten had in de trant van ‘wat is het leven mooi’ enzo.
Als je zo eens naar de bon kijkt, snap ik er niets meer van….
Wat kost nou wat? Die cola van mn wijf was 1.10, zover kom ik wel…maar kostte die halve liter nou 2.30 of 2.00??
Ala, 5.40 voor een bier, een cola en een pita gyros, best een goeie deal.
Een lekker broodje met de geijkte ingrediënten dat ik in een minuut of vier soldaat maakte om daarna, al lurkend mn weg te vervolgen.
Bouloukos dus, nummer 53 op Athinas, tegenover de markt.
