Vrijdag avond, oftewel wat drinken in de stad. Na een tijdje te hebben zitten ouwehoeren bij jazzcafé ‘t College oppert Brommert dat hij honger heeft. Nou deel ik die mening, maar er is één probleem: Ik ben op dieet.
Ik haat dieten, ik vind dat je als verstandig mens ook gewoon gezond kan eten en genoeg bewegen, en dat er dan niets aan de hand hoort te zijn. Helaas heb ik geen gezonde stofwisseling, dus dat gaat voor mij niet op. Dieet dus. Gelukkig mag ik met mijn dieet wel vlees en groenten eten; oftewel, het kebab reporten gaat gewoon door (Helaas zorgt dat wel aan het einde van mijn maal voor dit soort sneue taferelen.).
We rekenen af bij ‘t College, en ik besluit een broodje kebab voor te stellen. Dat mag immers nog. Brommert stemt in en wij lopen in een rechte lijn naar Grillcorner Lakonya (zie Utrecht, Polleke voor een foto bij daglicht) Deze zaak is al weken gesloten vanwege renovaties, maar de renovaties lijken eindelijk voltooid, en de zaak heeft zijn deur weer open gegooid. Ze hebben een vleesrol in hun logo staan, dus dat beloofd wat. De welkomsmat ligt al voor ons op de vloer. Ik loop nieuwschierig de zaak in, vol verwachting wat de weken van verbouwingen teweeg hebben gebracht. Nou eh.. Niet veel dus. De zaak ziet er nog steeds uit als de zolder van een bejaarde Turke man, mogelijkerwijs zijn de veranderingen alleen extern. Er zijn een paar zitplaatsen, en ze hebben de eerste X-men film aan staan.
Ik bestel een klein broodje kebab voor €4. Vervolgens blijkt alles, en dan bedoel ik ALLES, standaard. Standaard professionele vriendelijkheid. Standaard Turks broodje. Standaard gelijmde rol. Standaard gekruid vlees uit de au bain marie. Standaard sla, tomaat, en na gevraagd te hebben of ik het er op wil hebben; ui. Standaard knoflooksaus (hoewel hij wel redelijk potent was). Standaard formaat. Na het leegeten van mijn broodje kebab doneer ik het brood aan Brommert en voel ik mij standaard gevuld. Zelfs het publiek wat je om 1 uur ‘snachts op een vrijdagavond in het centrum van Utrecht verwacht was standaard; dronken studenten die met een zwarte stift brilletjes op hun hoofd getekend hadden. Het enige wat niet op zijn plaats leek was de riem van één van de meiden. Ze was onder de veronderstelling dat het een rokje was. Dat fenomeen zie je gewoonlijk alleen in Engeland. Gelukkig voor haar was ze onder de illusie dat als ze er wat aan trok, hij niet onmiddelijk weer terug omhoog schoot. Gelukkig voor mij was haar kont niet dusdanig lelijk dat het mijn eetlust verpestte.
Ach ja. Ik geloof dat Lakonya niet de beste plaats is om te zijn om 1 uur ‘s nachts. Als je nuchter bent, tenminste.
