Wat doe je als je twee keer op dezelfde dag een smerig broodje kebab in je klauwen gedrukt hebt gekregen? Dan rij je nadat je bent bijgekomen van de kater naar onze oosterburen om te proeven hoe het wel moet. Misschien ligt het aan mij maar naar mijn idee hebben de duitse turken namelijk de kebablat toch iets hoger gelegd dan onze Hollandse vrienden. Ongetwijfeld zijn er in sommige ranzige duitse plaatsen nog goordere broodjes kebab. Maar ik ben er gelukkig nog geen tegen gekomen.
De keuze was gevallen op Keulen en als we daar toch waren konden we natuurlijk ook even de dom beklimmen. Dat betekent wel een vervelende wenteltrap 150 meter omhoog lopen dus dat doe je niet op een lege maag. Op zoek naar een kebabzaak! Voor de dom liepen wij naar rechts de Hohestrasse in. Dit is de grote winkelstraat vol kleding en souvenirwinkels. Na een paar honderd meter zag ik aan de linker kant op nummer 60… Doner Kebap. En deze man gelooft in het voer dat hij voorschotelt want hij bied op de 1e verdieping maar liefst plaats aan 40 personen.
Ik bestel aan het raamloket 1 broodje voor een mooie prijs van maar 3 euro. Er word een kwart Turks brood onder een grill vandaan gehaald en gevuld met een mooie berg vlees dat net is afgesneden. En hup een flinke schep saus boven op het vlees. Op een duitse vraag die ik niet verstond maar kennelijk wel begreep zeg ik.. ja ahles.. er word niet zuinig geschept uit maar liefst 5 verschillende bakken groenvoer en daar bovenop nog een schep saus. Op de foto is weinig vlees meer te zien maar geloof me het zat er onder.
Dankzij de nog heersende builenpest kon ik dit broodje nog aan een langdurig onderzoek onderwerpen en het smaakte uitstekend. Als eerste viel uiteraard de tzaziki op.. Lekker! Het broodje was goed geroosterd. Er zat een behoorlijke berg konijnenvoer op die fris was en er zat iets tussen dat een extra bite gaf.. die groene blaadjes bovenop met die puntjes.. als je me de naam verteld zeg ik.. Ja die! Het vlees was uitstekend niks op aan te merken… Gewoon een heerlijk broodje zoals het hoort!
