Op dat kruispunt bij de ingang van Artis viel mijn oog op een tentje genaamd: Döner en sandwich home.
Goeie naam..of nou…tja, in ieder geval duidelijk.
Verwend als ik ben, wilde ik eigenlijk iets meer moeite doen om hoog te scoren.
Maar je kan niet alles hebben schijnbaar, dus stapten we gewoon naar binnen.
De alleraardigste dame achter de toonbank draagt een soort slagersuniform, terwijl de rest van het etablissement behoorlijk schoon en netjes is. Nergens spatten bloed ofzo.
Broodje döner 3.50, een aanbod aan groen dat niet erg uitgebreid is.
IJsbergsla, tomaat, ui en saus, c’est tout.
Whatever, mn maag knort.
Binnen warpspeed (ik had mn jas net uit), staan er twee bordjes met twee broodjes voor ons beider neuzen.
Hahaha, neuzen! We zijn tenslotte in de ouwerwetse Jodenbuurt! Drie meter verderop staat een onlangs neergezette politiepost om eventuele nieuwe Mohammed Bouyeri’s neer te knallen als ze het in hun bol halen de Hollandsche Schouwburg aan te vallen.
Als het aan hullie lag, jasten ze daar nog 46.000 man doorheen richting kampen.
Goed, genoeg islamkritiek voor nu, want niet alles uit het midden-oosten is kut. Neem nou kebab.
Het vlees was kip. Van die kip die bijna dezelfde BITE heeft als het broodje waarin het gevangen zit.
Gevangen! weer een! Hahahahaaa!
Ik ben de laatste tijd in een kipachtige bui, dus ik maakte me niet sappel.

Ik kon de kip en het brood dus niet echt goed scheiden in mn mond, maar dat was niet echt een ramp te noemen.
Het vlees was namelijk behoorlijk gekruid en smaakte oké.
Het broodje was erg goed geroosterd, viel niet uit elkaar of kreeg scheuren of gaten. Het was gewoon goed.
Tomaat en ui kan niet opfucken dus dat was cool.
De knoflooksaus daarentegen…dat was van die zurige saus. Verdomme, je weet wel, je denkt steeds: is dit knoflook of citroen?
Ik kan het niet goed uitleggen. Je moet ervoor IN zijn. Soms ben ik dat wel, soms ben ik dat niet. Vandaag ben ik dat wel.
De sambal mag ik eigenlijk niet noemen, maar ik eet dan ook liters hete zooi en ben te kritisch. Het zal er vast ergens in hebben gezeten aan de rode vlekken te zien.
Al met al was dit broodje best te doen. Een uur eerder liepen we langs Hicret, wat me ‘aanzette’ om kebab te scoren, maar waar ik niet naar binnen liep. Mooi, toch weer een nieuwe tent!
Goed, op het kruispunt bij de ingang van Artis, Plantage Middenlaan, 3.50, snelle service, geen extra’s, kip, goed brood, makkelijk als je langs fietst of net voor je diertjes gaat kijken.
