Afgelopen vrijdag was het er weer zo één als er inmiddels al vele van versleten zijn en er nog velen zullen volgen … papadag.
Als ik de andere recensies zo lees denk ik niet dat er veel zijn hier die zo’n zelfde dag in hun week hebben en er zullen er zelfs een aantal zijn die lachend denken: “Papadag … what the fuck?”.
Ik zal het even kort uitleggen. Papadag wil niets anders zeggen dan een relaxte vrije vrijdag, na mijn 4 daagse werkweek, alleen met m’n dochtertje van bijna 2,5.
Als ik mijn dochtertje na een rustig ochtendje dan rond het middaguur naar de peuterspeelzaal breng vervolg ik daarna mijn weg naar het winkelcentrum om wat boodschappen te doen en mijn wekelijks rondje over de markt te slenteren. Elke week staat er weer die Vietnamees en daar ik tot een paar jaar terug ergens in Nederland op een markt liep ik altijd een loempiaatje of 2 of 3 etc. kocht moet ik er nu niet eens meer aan denken. Waar was kebab toen ik nog een kleine Stefan was?
Na de boodschappen en de markt loop ik weleens (lees: bijna altijd) even binnen bij Alattin, ‘mijn’ plaatselijke Kebabdealer. Wat zij daar o.a. verpatsen is dus Kebab wat, zoals de titel al luidt, de standaard zou moeten zijn in de wereld die Kebab heet. Het volgende zal lijken op een reclame maar niks is minder waar, dit is gewoon greep uit mijn wekelijkse uitstapje.
Er staan altijd 2 jonge snuiters achter de toonbank die elkaar afwisselen. De ene keer staat de ene er en de andere keer de ander maar daar merk je niks van, beide altijd even beleefd, vrolijk en vriendelijk. Je kunt daar kiezen uit niet alleen 2 soorten vlees maar ook 2 formaten broodjes. Voor wat betreft de prijzen hoop ik dat jullie zitten als jullie dit lezen want ik lees regelmatig in recensies dat de prijzen variëren van €4,- tot €5,- voor een normaal broodje Kebab. De grote Kebab bij Alattin kost maar € 4,75 maar deze is voor mij altijd net even te groot als tussendoortje. De normale Kebab kost daar een heel schappelijke € 3,-.
Na het bestellen gaat het broodje tussen zo’n groot tosti-ijzer en na even wachten wordt de rol met zo’n tondeuse geschoren. Aangezien in dit deel van Purmerend geen gas is worden de rollen door middel van infrarood gegrild maar ook hier merk je niks van. Als het broodje klaar is wordt deze opengesneden en voorzien van saus. Deze chef (zo wordt je daar door het personeel genoemd), neemt altijd alles erop dus ook knoflook- en sambalsaus. Deze sauzen worden in een ronde beweging over het hele broodje verdeeld waarna de tomaat, komkommer, rode uien en sla over het broodje verdeeld worden. De knoflooksaus zou iets dikker mogen om het lekken aan het eind van het broodje te voorkomen maar hij is lekker dus so what.
En dan … dan is het tijd voor het vlees, lams heeft mijn voorkeur. Als de beste man begint te laden lijkt het broodje wel een bodemloze put, ze blijven maar scheppen. Dit resulteert dan ook in de volgende ervaring bij het eten. Als je een hap neemt is het net of er een heel mals, dik stuk lamsbiefstuk op je broodje ligt zo dik belegd is dus mijn broodje. Ik zal het nog sterker vertellen, als ik mijn broodje op heb dan blijft er in het bekende papieren puntzakje nog meer vlees over dan waar menig broodje uit andere recensies mee gevuld worden. Zover ik het bepalen kan is alles (Brood, groente en vlees) vers en als klap op de vuurpijl hebben ze zelfs een spaarsysteem . Bij elk broodje krijg ik een stempel en als de kaart dan vol is krijg ik een gratis broodje Kebab. Need i say more!
