Het was dinsdagavond en ik kwam wederom rechtstreeks uit m’n werk. Aangezien ik een afspraak had op de plaatselijke voetbalclub was het tijd voor een snelle hap,oftewel.. een broodje kebab!
In mijn zoektocht naar de beste kebabzaak van het noordelijk halfrond besloot ik een broodje te halen bij de Villa Plaza aan de Korte Binnenhoek 64 te Tiel. De desbetreffende kebabtoko annex pizzaria zit er voor zover ik weet al sinds het begin der tijden. Echter verandert hij vrijwel om het jaar van eigenaar en raamstickers. Of het voorgeschotelde voer hierdoor ook van kwaliteit verandert is mij niet duidelijk aangezien ik er voor het laatst een paar jaar geleden heb gegeten. Binnen heeft de tent een echte snackbarinrichting met een 4 tal eettafeltjes.
De kosten voor het broodje zijn 4 euro’s.. ietwat aan de dure kant vind ik maar we zullen zien wat er voor geleverd wordt. Er werd vlees uit de au bain-marie geschept maar aangezien dit niet genoeg bleek werd er ook wat vers vlees van de rol gesneden met de heggezaag. Dit samen werd nog even netjes opgebakken op de bakplaat. Aangezien de vorige kebabzaak de helft van mijn saus vergat leek het mij verstandig wat extra knoflooksaus te bestellen.
Thuis aangekomen nam ik de tijd om mijn broodje aan een nader onderzoek te onderwerpen. Het broodje was een rond Turks broodje maar niet erg groot. Duidelijk een van de machinale productie. Door de sla waren kleine blokjes komkommer en tomaat gesneden en het zag er vers uit. Tevens zat er een berg vlees bij die duidelijk niet in het broodje ging passen… Me like!!! Nadeel was dat de bakjes saus tot maar liefst 3 mm hoogte gevuld bleken. Deze Turkse tent hield duidelijk van Hollandse zuinigheid. Beetje jammer dat als je extra saus besteld je maar net genoeg hebt.. Na het vullen van mijn broodje en het inschenken van een koud glas melk kon de smaak getest worden. Wat bleek deze stond mij geheel niet tegen. Het broodje was lekker en goed gegrild. Het vlees smaakte goed. het konijnenvoer ach ja.. konijnenvoer. Alleen een beetje jammer van die zuinige bakjes saus. Een ander nadeel/voordeel van het mee naar huis nemen van de bestelling is dat je het broodje zelf vult en niet de verdeling van de Turk zelf weet. In dit geval hield ik vlees over dat niet meer in het broodje paste.. een groot goed! Als je het broodje daar ter plekke naar binnen schuift krijg je dit extra vlees er uiteraard niet bij. Hierdoor wordt het broodje in verhouding nog duurder.. Maar niet minder lekker.
