kijk…da’s een fuckin’ dönert
Muziek luisteren en bier drinken zijn zo’n beetje mn favoriete bezigheden, dus toog ik laatstelijk wederom richting onze Oosterburen. Ditmaal voor een bezoek aan Frankfurt waar jaren’80 glamrock/hairmetal-pastische Steel Panther een optreden zou verzorgen in de Batschkapp.
Mooi meegenomen is dat er teringhard kebab wordt gemaakt en dat mn collega brulboei er woont.
Met de ICE is het maar drie en een half uur en die moffen slopen de hele weg langs het spoor, wat altijd lekker wegkijkt. De reis valt dus alleszins mee.
Eenmaal aangekomen zie ik meteen iets dat ik als achterlijk bestempel; een pizza-automaat op het station! Wat een krankzinnig idee!
Of een automaat met een zwangerschapstest tussen de marsen en snickers! Mocht je tijdens het knabbelen ineens de neiging voelen ergens overheen te pissen, is dat gewoon mogelijk in de U-Bahn. Duitsers….punktklichkeit, Krupps, Maybe Baby. Mooi land.
Ik had mn doelen al gesteld; station Höchst moesten we heen, want daar zit Urfa Kebap en daar heb ik toevallig goede verhalen over gehoord.
Onze gids, C, weet wat anders; we gaan naar de plaatselijk met vijf sterren bekroonde zaak in Sachsenhausen genaamd Döner und Pizzaland.
Ik met mn fucking windbreaker aan, terwijl het hier tegen de twintig graden aanzit…gekkenhuis.
Na een kleine wandeling door het mooie Frankfurt, komen we aan bij een verder niet zoveel zeggend kruispunt aan de Stresemannallee waar deze toko zich bevindt.
De specs: een ‘klein’ broodje gaat hier voor vier euro, een grote voor zes euro dertig.
En, geloof me, die grote…..die krijg je niet op!
Dat is bijna een hoofd, een voetbal, een Olympische discus, een…een…monster.
In de vitrine zie ik veel zaken die me blij maken; feta, zure paprika’s en broccoli.
Inderdaad; broccoli.
Kebab met broccoli….is dat een goed idee?
Ik weet ’t niet want ik bestel een ‘gewoon’ broodje.
Dat deze tent ook een bakkerij is, is de sleutel naar succes en vijf sterren van de lokale fans.
Het brood is meesterlijk. Echt meesterlijk!
Luchtig maar toch stevig, knapperig maar niet brekend, een mond vol, maar niet vullend.
Dit brood zet ik naast de zelfbakhemel van Hasir en de lekkere poederige broodjes van Leeman. Het is echt iets unieks dat niet in woorden te vangen is.
Tussen de muren van heerlijk deeg zit kool, wortel, augurk, schwiebeln, tomaat, knoblauch und scharf. Pepertjes krijg ik er apart bij.
Tja, wat moet je erover zeggen? Het was vet? Het was een goed begin? Hij was weer heerlijk Koby?
Weetikveel….dit was een enorm apparaat vol heerlijk vlees en groen, een frisse knoflook en een typisch Duitse bite.
Vooral de grootte en het eetgemak vallen op. Een heerlijk, GIGANTISCH, kickass broodje kebab!
Morgenland
Na deze openbaring was het tijd voor bier drinken bij de Ierse pub aangezien het St.Paddy’s Day was.
In Bornheim staat iedereen op straat te tanken en het rugby te volgen. Redelijk lachen.
Na een uurtje of twee flessen Heineken naar binnen gieten en uit ons nek lullen, begint het maagje weer te rommelen en is het tijd voor wat te eten.
We bezoeken een kebabzaak, Morgenland genaamd, is in de Bergerstrasse.
De prijzen ontschieten me even, maar ala, fuck it.
Naast mn broodje neem ik een bordje handel on the side.
Spercieboontjes, aubergine, tomaat, iets…geen idee, maar lekker is het wel.
En…..wat er meteen opvalt, is de dille die in de knoflooksaus verborgen zit.
Hoewel, verborgen? Het valt meteen op, dus zo verborgen is het allemaal niet.
Echt, weer een heerlijk, apart effect. Doet me lichtjes mijmeren over Mustafa’s, waar ook dille wordt gebruikt om de klanten NOG harder te binden.
Chiliflakes op tafel, alles dat je graag ziet in een broodje, ik kan hier wel wat mee.
Bovengemiddeld goed ook, frisse saus, goeie bite, echt het betere knabbelwerk!
Na dat broodje hierboven werd er nog meer gedronken, gezongen en gerookt.
Uiteindelijk eindigden we op een hoek van een straat, even denken hoor.
Zeil? Ergens bij station Hauptwache…die tent heet in ieder geval Zeil Kebap dus erg ver zit ik er niet vanaf.
Ik moet bekennen dat ik hier niet meer exact weet hoe of wat, behalve dat er weer dille in zat en het erg goed te nassen was.
Helaas moest ik de helft van deze döner laten voor de vogels, want de sterke arm kwam iets zaniken. Gelukkig liep dat allemaal met sissers enzo af, maar toen zat ik al in een taxi verderop.
Nee, geen taxi met zwaailichten (haha, leuk).
Wat me opviel trouwens; was het gebrek aan vogels hier.
Echt, in drie dagen twee kraaien, vijftien duiven en vier mussen…..hoe kan dat?
Waar zijn de vogels? De kauwtjes? Ik heb geen enkele gezien!
Na al dit gedoe had ik een kater van jewelste en lagen we op de bank Alien I te kijken.
Kreeg geen hap chili con carne door mn strot ook.
’s Avonds gingen we naar het concert, wat meesterlijk was en vol zat met grappen over pijpen, drugs en dikke wijven..erg vermakelijk allemaal.
Op het station de dag erna at ik nog een McRib, die beter McE-Nummer had geheten en reden we in volle vaart terug naar ons mooie kikkerlandje.
Ik ga er vaker komen, dat hele Duitsland.
