Bijdrage van een baas uit het Zuiden…
Het was een zware zaterdag, na een nog zwaardere vrijdagavond. Je kent ze wel zo’n dag waarop je veel plannen hebt, maar dat doelloos voor je uit staren een feit is. En blijft.
Inmiddels werd het 18.00 uur, en alles in me zei, tijd om iets te knagen. Aangezien ik niks in huis had en absoluut niet van plan was om naar een supermarkt te fietsen, laat staan mn voordeur voorbij te lopen werd het denken, en geloof me dat was op dat moment vrij moeilijk. Pijnlijk zelfs.
Een aantal weken geleden fietste ik langs de Meerssenerweg hier in Maastricht, langs een grillroom die er al jaren zit, maar nog nooit was geweest. Fiets aan de kant gezet en een broodje kebab gehaald, moet zeggen dat het een nette zaak was, met een oude baas achter het spit. En die kent zn vak, werd vriendelijk begroet, praatje gemaakt, broodje in de oven, turks brood van een bakker uit de buurt, die ken ik wel, heerlijk brood. Het vlees, lam, werd ook zelf gekruid vertelde hij en zat netjes gestapeld op de rol, en werd ook direct van de rol geschaafd door de vakman, sauzen waren al naar gevraagd, en smilend liet hij met een lepel zien dat de sauzen zelfgemaakt waren, ”dikte van de sausj is belangrijk” zei hij, nou daar ben ik het mee eens, ik hou niet van saus dat zo dun is als Maaswater. Bleek een familie-recept te zijn. Dat broodje was echt goed, wat er op moest werd gevraagd, alles zag er vers uit en zat in aparte gekoelde bakjes. Tomaatje, uitjes, feta, ijsbergsla, olijfjes, alles was aanwezig. Voor de feta hoefde ik niks extra te betalen, maar heb het niet genomen toen.
Met deze ervaring in mn achterhoofd werd het me duidelijk wat ik ging doen op deze zaterdag. Er naar toe fietsen? Nee dat ging hem niet worden. Op internet Efes gezocht, en jawel ze bezorgen ook. Menu gecheckt, de kleine schotel kebab lachtte me vriendelijk toe, 9 euro. Het broodje wat ik er dus eerder had gegeten was top, dus om nog iets spannends te doen op deze voor de rest waardeloze dag was dus testen hoe de bezorg-service was. Ik bezoek regelmatig deze site en lees dan verhalen over ( en die zijn niet al te best soms) kebab bezorgen aan je deur.
Nu ben ik huiverig om iets te laten bezorgen, als ik de tent en zijn waard niet ken, laat staan zijn dieren aan een spit. Over deze dieren gesproken, naast Efes zit een kroeg, ”Het Sjopke” in nederlands vertaald: ”Het schaapje” dus noem het toeval.
Telefoon gepakt inmiddels, er werd snel opgenomen, ”goeien avond met Efes, zegt u het maar!”” kleine schotel besteld en er werd gevraagd wat er qua groenten etc bij moest, nou doe maar ”alles” en dat werd ook uitgelegd, groen pepertje, tomaatje, uitjes, olijven, beetje ijsbergsla, ”met dressing” ik stemde ermee in. ”Nou alvast smakelijk en een fijne avond, het komt eraan””
Toch maar een pilsje opengetrokken ( Brand ) zoals een import-limbo dat hoort te doen, en na 20 minuten de deurbel. Vriendelijke gozer op een scootertje, met de maaltijd. ”Hallo meneer, uw bestelling, dat is dan 9 euro alstublieft” Het viel me op dat de bezorgkosten niet werden meegerekend.
Bonnetje erbij, servetjes, een mooi pakketje. Het was geen do-it-yourself pakket maar dat hoeft ook niet vind ik, een goede tent weet wat ie brengt, en het zag er ZO uit. Het zag er goed uit, een fraai gevulde bak, en de friet was prima, niet klef, nee gewoon goed, het vlees wat ik eerder had gehad was heerlijk gekruid, heerlijk net als mn broodje de keer daarvoor. Groenten vers, en een iets dille-achtige dressing over de salade wat een goede combi is met het vlees. De sauzen waren goed, geen slappe hap, de sambal was echt een goede killer, dat je echt met een mespuntje erbij doet, een klein beetje branderig is maar daar hou ik wel van, de knoflooksaus was een beetje, hoe zeg je dat, wat ”dikker” qua structuur, je proeft echt dat er goede tenen doorgemaald zijn. Het lamsvlees was lekker gegrilld, sommige stukjes een beetje met een korstje van de grill, vind ik wel een pluspunt, niet van dat slappe deeg-vlees van een fabrieksrol.
Kortom, een aanrader in Maastricht, bediening +1, bezorgtijd +1, maaltijd +1 en een half lammetje voor de baas en zn ambacht, daarmee kom ik echt uit op 3,5 op de schaal van lam, als je als toerist in ”Mestreech” bent ga je deze tent niet vinden omdat ie buiten de stad ligt maar voor de insiders een tip: GAAN.
en ik zeg het toch eerlijk, Efes draagt bij aan de bourgondische kwaliteit in het zuiden.
