Hij riskeert een celstraf voor tal van inbreuken op de hygiëne. “Er lagen zelfs beschimmelde broodjes in de keuken. En u bent al meermaals veroordeeld”, brieste de rechter.
De praktijken in pitazaak Snack Pacha, op de hoek van de Langestraat en de Rodestraat, zijn intussen in Brugge genoegzaam bekend. Uitbater Y.T. (39) is dan ook geen onbeschreven blad en werd al in 2001, 2002, 2011 en 2012 veroordeeld voor hygiëne-inbreuken en inbreuken op de sociale wetgeving. In het woongedeelte deed hij ook al aan huisjesmelkerij. De man werd in 2010 nog veroordeeld tot een jaar cel met uitstel. De gemiddelde Bruggeling waagt zich er dus niet meteen aan een kebab. “Maar nietsvermoedende toeristen van onder meer de nabijgelegen jeugdherbergen gaan er zonder vooroordelen eten”, vertelt ons een Bruggeling die de zaak voorbij wandelt.
Dat controleurs van het Federaal Agentschap voor de Veiligheid van de Voedselketen (FAVV) tussen april vorig jaar en september van dit jaar al zes keren binnenvielen bij Snack Pacha, hoeft dan ook niet te verwonderen. “Wanneer er eerder een negatieve controle is, gaan we sowieso telkens opnieuw langs”, zegt woordvoerster Lieve Busschots. Dat was bij de pitabar in de Langestraat zeker het geval.

“De zaak is algemeen zeer slecht onderhouden. Er liggen onverpakte levensmiddelen in heel vuile ruimtes. Er hangen resten oud vlees tussen de machines. De levensmiddelen zijn niet correct afgedekt. Het toilet is vuil. Er hangt schimmel aan de muren. De machines zijn vuil. De bereidingsplaats is vettig”, zijn maar enkele vaststellingen uit de vernietigende analyse van de voedselinspectie. “Er lagen zelfs beschimmelde broodjes die klaar lagen om opgediend te worden. U brengt het leven van de consument in gevaar, beseft u dat? Hoe durft u daar eten te serveren?”, riep de rechter T. gisteren opnieuw tot de orde. “Ik doe mijn best. We kuisen er regelmatig, maar ik word op details gepakt. Er wordt van een mier (de man bedoelt een mug, red.) een olifant gemaakt”, verdedigde de man zich. De rechter viel bijna van haar stoel.
Nog altijd open
In december vorig jaar werd de zaak bij het aanzien van de inbreuken nog door het FAVV tijdelijk gesloten, maar een dag later deed T. zonder vergunning opnieuw open. De kwestie kwam eerder dit jaar al voor de rechtbank en ook bij de daaropvolgende inspectiebeurten bleek er amper iets veranderd. “U bent hardleers en hebt absoluut geen respect voor de mensen hun gezondheid. U deugt niet als uitbater van een pitazaak”, stelde de rechter. De dertiger riskeert een celstraf tot 6 maanden en een boete tot 6.000 euro. Opvallend: de zaak was gisteren ook doodleuk open. Of dit na het vonnis op 3 december nog het geval zal zijn, is nog onduidelijk.
