Je hoefde ook alleen maar af te gaan op de zachtroosterende geuren van ritueel geslachte schapen, geiten of ander vierbenig materiaal wat daar hun ‘gatjes’ verbranden aan de spies..
Plakje voor plakje geplet gaven ze elkaar nog de broodnodige laatste vleselijke warmte door aan het spit, dat maar rond draaide en draaide alsof het wist dat stilstaan geen functie heeft met carnaval.
Tsja, het was weer carnaval, ‘vette bekken’ tijd voor intimi, tussen het lustig verkwisten van leutpenningen door om maar geen droge keel te krijgen. Het iets té ver uitgedroogde broodje stoof al voldoende de strot in. Maar met carnaval moet je niet klaogen, maor draogen ! Dus…uche uche…doettume maor unne pilske daorbie…
Wat te zeggen over het vlees dat idd in geen echte overdaad aanwezig was, de lullige knijpflesjes met knoflooksaus en veel te zoute rooie instantie, wat al bijkans uit je vingers glibberde, door het uitgeknepen gedrag van een voorgaande genieter. Van de vloer kon je hier beslist eten, er lag genoeg. Tsja, niet goed, niet slecht, het was warm in ieder geval, ja, ook de sla weer…
Dat tot overmaat van ramp het toilet even met een grote waterslang, die dwars kronkelend door de zaak liep, doorgespoten moest worden, gaf nèt dat extra vleugje odeur wat je aan verre oosterse landen deed denken. Met veel kamelen. Ik had ‘thuiskomen’ in Breda’s Kebabland anders in gedachten, om me te verlekkeren aan een heerlijke maaltijd.
Nog enige tijd daarna ‘nagenietend’ van het wanhopig snel doorgeslikte materiaal, wat ondertussen wanhopig weer via dezelfde weg naar buiten wilde komen, daar het klotsend & drijvend moest wedijveren met het aldaar volop aanwezige biervocht (dat lustig meedeed aan de volgende polonaise Hollandaise met mayonaise), kreeg je op die manier wél waar voor je geld, twee keer genieten had ik me anders voorgesteld.
Al met al besluiten we weer te wachten met ons volgend bezoek tot het jaar 2012, wanneer we weer zonodig een ‘vette bek’ in hetzelfde etablissement gaan nuttigen, omdat we gewoon te lam zijn om verder te strompelen dan dat we vooruitkomen.
Vulling was het zéér zeker voor een aanvaardbare prijs, maar is dat een voldoende ? Dacht het niet. Sorry, Mohammed, een vijfje, tóps…
