Ut Kielegat. Voor een grote groep mensen klinkt dit als koeterwaals, de rest roept gelijk “Alaaf!”. De tijd van massaal verkleden, en heel erg veel bier. Je moet d’r van houden. Of ik er van hou, daar ben ik nog niet helemaal over uit. Maar traditie getrouw ben ik er toch maar weer een dagje gaan kijken.
Ik moet zeggen, het heeft wel wat. Gezellig is het in ieder geval wel. Tijd voor een biertje! Dat je je door sommige goede kostuums soms even in een trip waant neem je op de koop toe. Tijd voor nog een biertje! Dat mooie vrouwen ineens lelijk lijken en lelijke vrouwen mooi, tja. Nog maar een biertje dan. En ja hoor, daar is de zachte “g” en de harde “l” weer. Biertje dan maar. En dan, niet geheel onbelangrijk, is het tijd voor een “vette bek”, ook wel bekend als bodempje leggen. Vroeger, toen Jan nog een Jantje was werd dat standaard gedaan bij de Febo. Maar de Febo was weg en schrijven over een patatje is mijn ding niet. Dus heb ik het gezelschap waar ik mee was maar even tot vervelens toe duidelijk gemaakt dat kebab het nieuwe Febo eten was. Dus na enig zoeken belanden we in een kebab tent.
Wat kan ik eens over eethuis Floria zeggen? Het broodje was een pita, sla was alleen sla en ui en de saus was knoflook. Geen sambal dus. Vlees werd vers afgesneden en ging gelijk op het broodje. Goed heet en goed. Ondanks de gebreken ging het broodje er mee door. Of zou dat komen doordat het mijn ontbijt was en ik al wat bier op had? De zaak was ernstig carnavalesk aangekleed en zelfs sommige personeelsleden zagen er op hun best uit. De 4 euro die het broodje moest opleveren werd door iemand anders betaald, en een gegeven broodje kebab moet je niet in ehh… z’n wat dan ook kijken. Buiten carnaval om zou ik vast niet zo positief schrijven, maar het broodje kon er mee door.
Terug het feest gedruis in dan maar. Biertje drinken. Nee, sorry, deze polonaise sla ik even over. Biertje dan maar weer. He, daar heb je superman! Gaat er nog iemand bier halen? Een coc clubje, wat een verassing, ze zijn als piloot, matroos en soldaat. Nee hoor, dat biertje sla ik heus niet af. Moet ik nog even door gaan of geloven jullie het wel? Ik kan jullie vertellen, er kwamen nog wat biertjes bij kijken. Lang verhaal kort, tijd voor een tweede broodje kebab.
Als je langs een tent komt die Opa’s heet en kebab verkoopt kun je er gewoon niet aan voorbij lopen. Dat moet getest worden. Vriendelijke bediening, geen carnavalsversiering (dat dan weer niet) maar wel een voetbalwedstrijd op tv. Goed broodje geloof ik wel, ik was niet helemaal helder meer. De bereiding is me even ontgaan. Wederom alleen sla, verder niks. De sambal mocht je d’r zelf op doen. Echt een waardevol oordeel kan ik geloof ik niet over deze tent geven, het broodje hielp wel de alcohol weer even in toom te houden. Mijn tafelgenoot was niet zo te spreken over de sla in zijn turkse pizza met kebab, omdat die meegebakken was of door de warmte van de kebab erg vies en snotterig was geworden. Sla is nu eenmaal niet gemaakt om verhit te worden. Verder geen klachten van zijn kant geloof ik. Als ik de foto’s nu terug kijk kan het nooit super geweest zijn, maar ik meen er toch van genoten te hebben. Een goede zaak om na een avond stappen langs te gaan dus! Ze waren wel erg nieuwsgierig naar het doel van de foto’s, zouden we al berucht aan het worden zijn in kebabland?
Na deze maaltijd zijn we maar weer de stad in gegaan, veel bier en veel carnaval. Niet te laat gemaakt, het was wel weer leuk zo. En voor de onwetende die de broodjes zelf een keer (nuchter?) willen gaan testen, Ut Kielegat is de rest van het jaar bekend als Breda. Voel je vrij de boel aan te vullen, want echt een mooi oordeel kan ik niet vellen over deze zaken, lang leve carnaval. Alaaf!
