Leuk, een weekendje weg.
Lekker naar het oosten des lands voor wat verpozing en een verblijf in het Huis van Bewaring.
Da’s geeneens een grap.
Goed.
Een uur in de missie knorde het maagje en werd er kebab gehaald.
Ik kan niet anders zeggen dan dat het meteen goed begon, daar in Hengelo, bij de Dönerix.
Dit is een franchise toch? Ze zitten volgens de flyer in meerdere steden namelijk.
Nou ja, whatever. Ik was iets aan het doen dus ging mn vriendin even lopen met de opdracht alles vast te leggen voor de site.
Grappig is dat; ik zelf ben niet zo van ‘ik hang die camera in je bakkes en ga achter de balie foto’s lopen maken’, maar mn vriendin denkt daar heel anders over…die klikt er op los alsof het de laatste kebab ter wereld is.
De broodjes waren gehaald; tijd om te gaan recenseren.
Het ziet er om te beginnen allemaal erg verzorgd uit, ik kan er niet omheen..
Ik zie feta, augurk, tomaat, rode kool en ui, komkommer geloof ik….pepertje erbij.
Mooie grilribbels ook.
Romige knoflooksaus en net even wat te weinig bite in de sambal maar dat is per persoon verschillend….mn vrind F. had het te kwaad of nee, dat is te veel, hij vond de sambal helemaal niet te min.
Ala, we stonden daar op straat best lekker te knabbelen. Deze Dönerix is gewoon bovengemiddeld te noemen..mooie, schone tent, ruime keus aan van alles, snelle service, goede verdeling en extra’s, ik bespeurde een hint van dille in mn gemengde sla, iets waar ik altijd wel blij van word.
Ja mensen, dat was een fijn begin, ook al mag er meer vlees in…Hengelo….DOUZE POINTS!
Maar het feest was nog niet gedaan. No sireeeeee!
Na een uurtje of twee, drie buiten had ik alweer honger.
Er moest gegeten worden.
Niet in de laatste plaats omdat we gratis voer kregen waar we waren (noem het een soupkitchen maar dan anders). Alleen; het voer dat we kregen was veganistisch!
Kijk, ik kan niks hebben, maar vegashit trek ik sowieso voor geen reet.
Echt, krusten en herdershonden, kutgoa en appeltjesspeed…allemaal wel, maar veganisten, daar krijg ik dus helemaal de tering van.
Fucking veganisten…kom.
Zwakke, vol met water gejaste plofkippen uit 2002 in de winkel…crimineel is het, maar dat maakt niet dat ik ineens op een zaadmatras slaap of overbehaarde mokkels wil beffen.
Doet me denken aan mensen die hun vuil maar blijven scheiden, terwijl die shit allemaal in dezelfde bak wordt gekieperd.
Valse betrokkenheid, beetje groen in je straat zodat je denkt dat dat iets met natuur te maken heeft…nee, onze wereld is plastic, onze relaties zijn plastic, onze gevoelens zijn vaak zelfs plastic, we weten niet eens hoe het is om geen plastic te zijn.
Oh ja, ik was in Hengelo.
Met de crew liepen we twee meter verder en troffen we vlak bij de Dönerix een tent genaamd Mazzel.
Goeie naam, als je in ogenschouw neemt dat de Jeruzalem hier een dikke vette jodenster op de gevel draagt. Als je dat bij ons doet, ligt er binnen no time een steen doorheen met al die antisemieten van tegenwoordig.
Of niet? Ga ik nu te ver? Kom zeg…in Amsterdam ben je als Jood je leven niet zeker, ja, op vak 125 misschien, maar ga eens in West lopen met je dreads en je zwarte pak…in een kostuum van pek en veren (en een bom in je hol)rollen ze je terug naar de synagoge.
Misschien zou het leuk zijn als jullie je issues in het Midden-Oosten houden?
Of gewoon, weet ik veel, sodemieter gewoon op….ons land is te klein voor dit soort crap.
champignons, niet verkeerd
De eerste sessie in Mazzel verliep erg goed.
Ik bestelde een bier en een broodje döner met champignons en paprika.
Dat leest U inderdaad goed.
En verdomme als dit niet erg goed te nassen was.
Waahahahahaa, nassen! Voel je ‘m??
Niet leuk? Jammer dan.
Deze hele toko is gewoon top; elk gerecht op tafel werd met zorg bereid, wat tijd kostte.
Normaal raak ik al oververhit als iemand LIJKT te dralen, maar in dit geval was het elke seconde waard.
Mooie borden, veel vlees, verzorgd, hele fijne salade, koude flessen bier, sambal, cocktail, uien-en knoflooksaus.
Een zelf te vullen Turks brood erbij..het lijkt de Hasir wel.
Kortom, over die Dönerix geen slechte woorden en over Mazzel al helemaal niet!
Jusqu’ici tout va bien zoals je dat hoort te zeggen.
Waar was ik?
Oh ja, in de Achterhoek.
De avond vorderde gestaag. Er werden biertjes gedronken en wat achterlijk gedaan, gerookt en gelald. Het werd ineens tijd te vertrekken naar de nor.
Dus wij met de taxi naar Almelo. Rijden we daar door het centrum, spot ik die fijne lichtjes die twee woorden spellen:
Döner
Kebab
Voordat we de gevangenis binnengingen, toch even die kant op.
Deze tent heet Truva en zit aan de Werfstraat geloof ik, om de hoek van café/proeflokaal België, hartje centrum van Almelo.
Een gast met een glimmende jas helpt me achter de balie, vaag.
Ik was inmiddels behoorlijk in de olie (mn vriendin moest mn klauwen vasthouden om een beetje een goede foto te maken) maar ik kan jullie vertellen dat ook dit broodje er weer mocht zijn.
Wat een goede score voor deze regio zeg, echt…drie broodjes, drie keer raak.
Hier zaten geen extra’s op, dit was gewoon een goed gemaakt broodje kebab.
Wat ik hiervoor betaalde? Een raadsel, maar het was het raadsel waard.

Jongens, ik was er gaar van. De dag erna in Nijverdal wilde ik eigenlijk nog een reportje scoren, maar ik had geen trek meer omdat ze in de tent waar ik uithing frikadellen enzo hadden.
Ook viel er verder niets te zeiken. Ja, er is geen reet te doen daar verder, ze verkopen wiet in dicht gesealde zakjes, wat ik echt HE-LE-MAAL niks vind.
Waarom doen ze dat? Zodat je shit allemaal in je broekzak flikkert? Om je te pesten?
We aten wat loempia’s, die goed smaakten, liepen door het centrum en speelden Triviant in een kroeg tot het tijd was voor actie. Op naar Frankfurt binnenkort, ik heb vernomen dat ik daar naar de Urfa ga. Ben benieuwd.
